It’s important to remember that the Canadian Prairies include Manitoba! And that PCCE has members school in that fine province! As it is challenging for the teachers at Calvin Christian School and Westpark School to attend things like Teachers’ Convention in Alberta, Jeremy and I spent last Friday in Portage La Prairie at Westpark.

The Westpark staff did a wonderful job hosting the Calvin Christian Elementary campus staff in a day focused on inviting our students more effectively in God’s story. It was a great day to be together, meet colleagues, visit classrooms, and dive more deeply into our calling of Christian teachers.

New High School in PCCE

Come September, we’ll have a new high school in our organization as the Taber Christian School community voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal to begin a high school! They will start with grade 10 in the fall and grow from there.

Educator Rep Needed

The PCCE Board has two Educator representatives and currently Sean Alaric (Immanuel Christian School, Lethbridge) and Jobena Westera (Gateway Christian School, Red Deer) serve in these spots. Jobena’s second three-year term is expiring this spring and as such we need someone to fill this role. If you are interested or would like more information, contact Jobena , Sean or PCCE by February 29, 2020.

BOOK CLUB

Next up are chapters 4 & 5.
We’ll meet electronically on February 24 from 3:45-4:45.

TFT 101

The final 2 days of TFT 1o1 will be held in two locations to facilitate participation:
Edmonton: April 27 & 28
Calgary April 30 & May 1
We’ll be celebrating the learning done thus far and learning about the final two Core Practices of Throughlines and FLEx. If you attended the October sessions, make sure you come back so that you have an understanding of the entire TFT Framework.

Educators Leadership development institute

If you are interested in learning more about school leadership, this immersive 5 day institute is for you! APPLICATIONS will be accepted soon. This opportunity is open to teachers in schools who are CSI members.

High School Deeper Learning

A group of interested high school leaders will be reading “In Search of Deeper Learning: The Quest to Remake the American High School” and wrestling with the applications to the Canadian Christian context. Here’s a REVIEW of the book from Christian leader Dan Beerens. If you’d still like to join the group, let Gayle know.

Business & Development Conference

Join our BC colleagues for their annual conference for business & development staff and board members on April 6-7 in Harrison Hot Springs BC. We’ll pass on more information later, but you can add these dates to your calendar.

AT OUR APRIL AGM...

One of the workshops will be a presentation by the Christian School Foundation, where they will be explaining how they can partner with schools for long-term financial viability. The PCCE is considering an organizational partnership agreement with CSF but we need to know how beneficial this would be to our schools and how committed schools would be to using their services. As such, it is very important that every school has a representative at that workshop. If your school community would like to speak individually with a CSF, please let us know and we can arrange that.

PR/Development Directors

Although this EVENT (Feb 4-12) is for churches, there may be applications to the school setting. Lots of high profile speakers. And it’s FREE! And it is video-based - no travel needed!
