January 2020 Prairie Update

Is Your School Flourishing?

As a teacher I was regularly assessing my students’ work and their learning. Sometimes it involved feedback along the way and sometimes it was a final assessment in the form of a test. If we now take a step back and instead of thinking about this at the student level, let’s think at the school level. All of our schools have vision/mission statements, but how do we assess how we are doing? We are making these promises to our community in terms of what our purpose and goals are, but do we measure this? We want our schools to flourish, but what does “flourishing” really look like? Is there a roadmap to Christian school flourishing?

Join us on April 25, 2020 at our AGM to hear
Dr. Lynn Swaner share some exciting recent research in this area. Lynn is a passionate leader and innovator in Christian education. As this is our AGM, we invite schools to bring a team of board members and teachers to this event. You won’t want to miss this day in Calgary. At our AGM, we will also be offering several workshops, one of which will be led by the Christian School Foundation as PCCE is considering partnering with CSF and would like schools to learn more before we make the final decision. So, ensure your “finance person” is there!

Wisdom from Twitter

At this time of year, we sometimes need reminders here are

5 non-negotiables for success with “hard to reach” kids.

1. Don’t take it personally.

2. Second to last word is best.

3. Late is better than not at all.

4. Some is better than none.

5. Private is better than public.
